Are Muslims eating Halal in Canada?

One day, I went to a store who has a big label on his window saying HALAL. I usually buy without making any investigations as long as it is written Halal. I don’t know why that day I decided to ask.
“is this chicken cut by neck and you said bismAllah when you cut it? ”
He said “no, Halal means you just say bismAllah and eat”!!!!!

Then I really became very picky when it comes to eating in Halal restaurants or buying from Halal stores.

Not all brands of cheese are Halal for Muslim to eat.

Therefor, It is wise to check the ingredients of the cheese.

For cheese: It may contains “rennet” component which could be coming from Porc or cows. Sometimes they do not mention “Rennet” but they mention “Modified milk ingredients” in general which can also contain “rennet”.

For Yogurt: It may contain “gelatin” in the yogurt with fruits and gelatin comes from porc.

Make sure to read the ingredients before buying because companies change the components from time to time like Kraft cheese before they had the kosher symbol and now I do not notice it on their products.
And in case you have a brand that available in your area, try calling the company or email them. They usually respond very fast.

….but the taste is bland…..all are halal but check in case I am wrong.

Liberty-Mediterranée [check website]
is very thick and rich….check for the ones with the MK symbol (kosher dairy) or for the ones with only skim milk…. I always get this kind – the lemon one is sooooooo good.

I am not sure. You need to double check the restaurant, just in case. Because sometimes, restaurants are Halal in certain branches only.

What I am sure of is BASHA restaurant everywhere are Halal.

Pig-Pork names

Not everything is Halal to eat but not all food is pork and Alcohol.

Here I am putting you the pork, pig cuts and names.

Pigs, also called hogs or swine, are the animals that Allah ordered Muslim not to eat.

Pork is the culinary name for meat from the domestic pig.

Pig Cuts

1 = Jowl bacon
2 = Neck chops, located at top of shoulder
3 = Shoulder
4 = Loin chops
5 = Bacon or sowbelly
6 = Hams
7 = Fatback, the solid slab of hard fat across the back of the pig

After all, the most important thing in my opinion is that you say remember to say “besm Allah” before you eat just in case you was mistaken in whatever you eat.
