General tips

Try to not be late in the streets night.
Montreal is safe and everything but people used to drink on Fridays/Saturdays and drunken people in the streets are not funny. They do not hurt you but you won’t feel good when u walk in the street night and beside you somebody screaming or doing weired actions or looking to you. Mokhohom beykon fe agaza… :)

Credit card protection
Don’t say your credit card number over the cell, wireless phone, VOIP phone or computer phone.
Use the land line phones.

If you call Bell or whatever company and they ask you for yr credit card # to search for your account profile, ask them to search for your account by your first/last name, address and date of birth. They will understand that you don’t want to say a credit card through a digital phone.

Having a cell, phone home, internet
Getting a cell phone and internet is the first thing immigrant think of when he comes. The tricks here is that they offer you a mobile free with a contract 3 years and you feel happy. They have internet with a contract too and you are happy.

Then later, you understand that if you break the contract, you will pay money. So what I suggest you is to bring your cell from yoru country and go with a plan with no contract if you plan to reduce your expenses the first period.

Same for internet; I entered a cable internet home from Videotron and this is only available for a contract of one year. If I break the contract during this year, I pay $120 CAD, and if I move to a place and I want them to transfer my cable to the new place, I pay $50 CAD. I one time was downloading something from a shared software torrants and you know these softwares, people take from the % you downloaded as well.
There was a limit on the upload size and the download size and if you excessed it you pay. So I paid more $10 CAD that month.
In brief, make sure to know everything related to the service you subscribe in, the contract, if you move, if whatever. Everything is written but in small size.

They write it in small like that and sometimes they say **certain fees applied and do not mention so you have to ask.
Check an example

That\'s how the info of breaking a contract or extra fee appears
