Understanding Credit CardsAhhhhh that was a real long call..

I have been a year here and only only NOW that I understand some credit card information

Previous statement balance: $646.87

Payments & credits: -$610.27

Purchases & debits: $499

Interest: $12.7

Payments & credits:

This is what you paid in your visa. For example you made purchases of $646.87 by your visa the previous month and you paid $610.27 of $646.87.

The$ 610.27 is called payment or credit. Payment you did for your visa and your credit. That’s why it is by (-).

Purchases and debits:

This is the amount you used by your credit card to purchase things. So you bought things for 499.75 this month

Interest:

Because you didn’t put payment for the full balance which is $646.87 and you paid only-$610.27. They put interest on you.

Points balance:

By RBC Platinum card you can go to the

Canada 15,000

  • Assalamualaikum. I just came across your website and felt the need to comment. I see you are promoting Credit Cards on your website but the interest you are paying on them (and promoting) is a form of Riba and is not permitted in Islam; therefore, it is not a good idea for you to promote them.

    Thanks. :)

  • Alaykom alsalam Sarina,
Thanks for passing by and thanks for the comment! Credit cards are part of way of life in Canada. It is important to have a credit card and important to have a GOOD credit history. Credit history is important to prove that you are a good responsible person. Having credit card is fine, not paying the bill on time is what is not fine and for sure has Riba on it.
